Hello, friend of Sanctuary Mahi Whenua Community Garden
Thank you for your vote of support on the petition. Have you been to the garden lately? Please come visit, enjoy the space, and if you feel the inclination, bring your gloves! There is a map on our website: https://www.sanctuaryunitec.garden
Working bees:
THIS Sunday, tomorrow, 8 March from 10am to noon
A shared lunch follows: please bring picnic-style finger-food to share, and a plate and utensils for your use. There will also be some produce to share.
ALSO: Sunday morning 22 March from 10 am to noon
Sunday morning 29 March from 10 am to noon
Wednesday afternoon 8 April from 1:30 pm to 4 pm
We are preparing to be part of EcoFest, and our date on that calendar is April 12.
Please remember to bring water to drink.
Legal action
Our legal team has applied for leave to the Supreme Court to bring a civil appeal. In the meantime, there is a caveat preserving the garden from disturbance in place until 29 May.
The Sanctuary legal appeal requires funds to be raised. Please give, even a small amount, and offer others the opportunity to support this precious local amenity with their signature and contribution.
Sanctuary Mahi Whenua is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005 (CC55011). This means that donations of over $5 are eligible for a New Zealand charitable giving tax credit.
Anyone can contribute to our legal fund via our Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-save-the-sanctuary-mahi-whenua-gardens
Alternatively, people can donate directly to our bank account and email us for a receipt:
