Thank you to all the supporters who have signed the petition to save our water and oppose the cemetery project.  This update is to let you know that the County of San Diego has issued a construction permit for the applicant to put in a temporary access road so that they are able to do water testing and add components to their well.  The temporary road is in a location where the applicant proposes to put the permanent road on a blind corner in both directions on a highway with a 55 mph speed limit.

We were given information that the issuance of this permit is in violation of CEQA. When we informed the County they said that was not the case. It is not customary to our knowledge that a construction permit is issued to grade potentially sensitive land in order to get approval to develop.

For anyone who lives in the vicinity or has an interest in this project, if you are able to come out and observe and document the ground breaking on this property, there will be people on site documenting the process beginning tomorrow 1/5/24.  The map is attached with the location. It is across from 35252 Old Highway 80 in Pine Valley.  This ground breaking could start as early as 7 am.

Just to clarify, the Major Use Permit has still not been approved for this project, meaning they do not have approval to build the cemetery at this time.

We still need help in spreading the word to oppose this project. Please share this petition and help us save our water.
