Dear all,
I just want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all regarding the Chinese program at Sammamish High School! The last few days were like a roller coaster ride. I’m deeply humbled and immensely grateful to the amount of support we received from parents, students, teachers, and the community.
The district has decided to pause any decision regarding Chinese offerings for the 2023-24 school year and plans to establish a taskforce in the fall to develop a shared vision for world language and engage students, staff, and families in designing a feasible way to offer a variety of world language courses in every school.
The district’s decision to re-offer Chinese 1 for 2023-34 school year is exciting, but it is only a small step. There is a long way to go. We are still vulnerable since our numbers are not big. Please continue to support the Chinese program at Sammamish and elsewhere! After all, we live in a interconnected world. United, we are stronger!
Thank you so much!
