Thank you for your support of the Save Roosevelt Group and Heart of the Lakes Community (HOTLC) non-profit in our efforts to preserve the historic Roosevelt building.

The HOTLC legal battle continues, as the West Bloomfield School Board has not publicly debated offers that would transform this beloved building and property into affordable housing and community space. Donations to help cover these costs are always welcome by clicking here

HOTLC is also hosting a SAVE ROOSEVELT Halloween Party FUNdraiser on October 6th at ELEKTRICITY (15 S Saginaw St, Pontiac, MI 48342). Access to this venue is generously donated by owner Amir Daiza, and ELEKTRICITY will be SPOOKTACULARLY decked out for Halloween, and costumes, a DJ, desserts, candy, a silent auction, and cash bar are in the plans for this FUN, family friendly event!

IF YOU'RE INTERSESTED IN DONATING SILENT AUCTION ITEMS or VOLUNTEERING, we would love help! Please email susan@emerling.us to let us know if you can help with the following things:

  • Gift Cards to local businesses
  • Desirable items or experiences for the Silent Auction
  • Selling advance tickets
  • Working the actual event (which should be great fun!)
  • Helping us find additional entertainment, like a hoop troop that would volunteer to come?

HOTLC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit group united to convince WBSB to sell and repurpose the historic 104-year-old Roosevelt building. When WBSB adopted an inadequate abatement and demolition plan, their mission expanded to protecting our community’s health and environment. Demolition was paused through a lawsuit but additional funding is needed to proceed our case, which has been accepted by the Michigan Court of Appeals.

This pause is our opportunity to raise funds for legal costs AND continue advocating for a better solution for the Roosevelt property. Thanks again for supporting our petition and special thanks to Amir Daiza, owner of ELEKTRICITY, for sponsoring our upcoming event! We hope to see you there!
