I have spent countless cherished moments at Rolli Beach with my family, friends, and our beloved pets. This invaluable space in Gibraltar is not just a haven for relaxation but a symbol of our community's heritage and a precious slice of natural environment amidst the concrete expansion creeping across our land. It's one of the few places where we can enjoy the sun, sea, and waves alongside our furry family members, creating unforgettable memories that transcend generations.

Now, this beloved spot is under threat as proposals emerge to sell it to private companies with intentions far removed from its original purpose. The looming prospect of Rolli Beach being transformed into yet another commercial venture not only disrupts our personal lives but erases a unique cultural and environmental heritage that belongs to all of us. We refuse to let gold diggers take away our communal land.

Coastal areas like Rolli are irreplaceable in their biodiversity, offering sanctuary to various forms of marine life and acting as an ecological buffer against climate change. Moreover, studies show that interaction with nature, including beaches, significantly benefits mental health and fosters community ties. Selling Rolli Beach to a private entity would deprive us of these critical benefits and set a dangerous precedent for future environmental exploitation.

Instead of selling, we propose that the government collaborate with local communities to protect and maintain Rolli Beach as a public good. By designating it as a protected recreational area, not only can we safeguard its natural beauty, but we can also showcase Gibraltar's unique charm to visitors and future generations without sacrificing our heritage or environment.

Please sign this petition to stand up for our inherent right to preserve and enjoy Rolli Beach, keeping it free from commercial exploitation. Together, we can ensure that this treasured space remains a sanctuary for all who love it today and for those who will love it tomorrow.
