Dear PAC Family and Friends,
Thank you for your unwavering love and support, especially over the past week as we
have come together to fight for PAC. It has been incredible to see our community
unite—sharing stories, celebrating our youth with a pizza and donut party, and hearing
from our most senior members about what PAC means to them.
PAC Closed on Friday, February 28th, But Our Efforts are Not Over
While PAC’s doors may be closing for now, our efforts to preserve it are still alive.
There is a mediation process triggered by an objection to the sale to a pickleball
business (RECS) purchasing the real estate for $5M. The mediation process may not
be completed until mid-April or May. During that time, we need to find a tennis deal that matches the RECS deal and keeps PAC alive. This means finding some larger investors for a business or foundation(s) to establish PAC as a non-profit.
Over 90 of you have expressed interest in being a part of a member-owner group if an
opportunity emerges where that would round out the deal. There is a potential
investment amount in the current group of close to $1M!
If you are interested in investing a little or a lot as a member-owner, or have ideas or
connections for larger owner-funders, please share them with Sam Sirkin (see below).
We need at least $4M more!
In the last seven days, we have gathered over 1,000 signatures for the petition and
raised $2,469 from 130 petition signer donors to promote our cause! Our efforts have
gained media attention from KATU, Willamette Week, and KGW who featured PAC
in a television story. Several are planning follow-up stories. We hope this media
attention will elevate the cause and possibly attract investors.
We are incredibly grateful for the strong endorsement from USTA Pacific Northwest
which states that access to indoor courts in Northern Oregon is severely limited...with only 130 indoor courts for about 275,445 active tennis players - about 21 times higher than the national goal of one court per 100 players.
Here’s How You Can Help:
Sign & Share the Petition – Keep spreading the word and inviting more people to
sign. Every signature strengthens our case.
Investors Needed – We are hoping to put together an alternative proposal to save
PAC. If you or someone you know is interested in helping financially, please
contact Sam Sirkin at samsirkin@gmail.com.
PAC was built on resilience, inclusion, and the love of tennis. With your dedication, we
can keep fighting for its legacy and ensure it remains a home for future generations.
Stay strong. Stay hopeful. We are not giving up.
