We are pleased to update that we held a very successful Park Fort tour on May 7th to an enthusiastic crowd of ~50, young and older alike, hosted by our Honorary Director, Capt Tom Tulloch, MSM, CD, RCN (Ret'd) as part of a Jane’s Walk.  The weather was gorgious and the questions were many!

“The Infernal Machine Comes to Halifax”

Tom will examine the rationale and operation of the system of undersea mines that were employed to defend Halifax Harbour in the latter decades of the 19th century, including an overview of what remains today from this highly secretive and technologically advanced Victorian-era defensive infrastructure. We knew of the Harbour’s submarine nets but who ever knew that Halifax Harbour was mined!

Date & Time: Wednesday, June 28, 2023, 1745 for 1800 start.
Location: Nova Scotia Room in the Wardroom at Juno Towers, CFB Stadacona.
Entrance via the Main Gate near the corner of Gottingen & Almon Streets.
Photo ID IS required for entrance to CFB Stadacona with parking in spaces that are not signed or reserved, including in front of the Base Hospital next to Juno Tower.
