📢 Update on Plumstead Adventure Playground
The response so far has been huge — thank you to everyone who has signed and shared the petition. It shows just how much the playground means to our community.
We’ve now had a response from Cllr Sandra Bauer. While her reply sounds reassuring, we’ve also heard strong rumours that closure may already be on the table. This is exactly the moment to stay vigilant and keep up the pressure.
👉 Our two main actions right now:
- As soon as the consultation opens, alert everyone you know — neighbours, families, schools, community groups — and share it as widely as possible so that every voice is counted.
- Keep sharing the petition to spread the word and show the strength of feeling in our community.
Here is the response we received from Cllr Bauer:
“No decisions have been taken yet and they won't be until we have reviewed the findings of the public consultation, due to start shortly. Can I please urge you and the children / families that use Plumstead APC to engage with the consultation to ensure your views are fully represented.
You can do this in the following ways:
· We will visit the adventure play centres to engage directly with families and young people
· Through an online survey, with paper copies available in libraries and community centres
· Surveys with residents living near the current sites
· Focus groups to explore how we can make facilities more accessible
I trust this reassures you that we are taking the necessary steps to hear from as many service users as possible to help shape our decision.
Best wishes,
Sandra”
While consultation is welcome, words alone won’t protect Plumstead Adventure Playground. We need to be ready, organised and loud. Together we can show the Council that this space is too important to lose.
