Our biggest goal with this drive is to get our park back under community control.

The plan if the community gets its space back is to introduce two key things.  Annual general meetings and elected boards.  On top of this will be transparency to the community.  All members, (not a paid thing), will have access to financial breakdowns, input through voting on major developments such as park design and monthly updates on the state of things.

This will all be baked into the by-laws for the non-profit, effectively ending totalitarian control by any board, present or future.

Today the committee is opening the door to the community.  I’m the face of a group spearheading this but we want this to be open to everyone, to be as involved as you want to be.  We have to do this as a community or we just end up in the same situation a year from now.

Whether you are for or against what we are doing we want to hear your thoughts, your questions, grievance, and your suggestions.  We are going to start it through email and with intent of holding a first general meeting in the near future.  We may not have the park back yet, but there's no reason we can't all start talking.

Anything shared from feedback publicly will not have a name attached unless you specifically give permission.

There will also be a mailing list used for primary means of communication and as an invite list for in-person gatherings.  Please provide an email address to the committee mailbox if you wish to be placed on that list.

This is open to all individuals and families wanting use of this space, skateboards, bikes, scooters, roller skates, rollerblades, if you have or would use it you are a part of our community.

We also welcome expressions of interest from anyone wanting to be involved in this movement to reclaim our space as well as future roles post transition.  Whether you want to be involved now or after the park is returned to the community, let us know.  It’s time for this to be bigger than me and the committee standing with me.
