Help bring attention to this renewed threat and join the community's RED ALERT signal group.

When Forestry Corp NSW stepped up the plans to log Pine Creek last month, concerned community members responded with the ‘Pine Creek Forest Community Blockade’ in a renewed effort to prevent the destruction of Pine Creek State Forest. With the forest now classified as “active”, the community has been on high-alert. People have been guarding the entries to the forest every day for the last 4 weeks, pledging to take further action if the machines arrive. Up-skills are taking place, yarning circles are happening by the fire, and people are passionately gathering as the last line of defence for this precious forest.

Sam Gribben, 22, who's been on the ground every day shares,

"We've kept them out for this long, and we aren't going to give up now. The community is ready to kick into our next gear of action."

"Thousands of hectares of our nearby public native forests have been logged in the last 2 years. We think it’s criminal that forests are being decimated in a climate crisis when we need to be increasing forest cover to draw down carbon.”

“Standing forests remove carbon dioxide from the air more effectively than anything else on land; they moderate local temperature and keep Bellingen’s drinking water clean. They do this best when they're left alone!”

Last year this petition was presented to the NSW government in parliament with over 25,000 signatures with your comments of support, along with continuous evidence of the important biodiversity of the area. The government has not responded. Friends of Pine Creek are grateful that so many in the local and broader communities are willing to stand up to protect the Pine Creek Koala Habitat, something that the government is failing to do. The Red Alert signal group was started by forest defenders on the ground to draw community support the moment logging is to commence.
