WILL SADIQ KHAN STEP IN TO PROTECT PASSING CLOUDS??

We were delighted to see mayor Sadiq Khan’s statement today that he is urging Lambeth Council to protect The Royal Vauxhall Tavern from property developers in the wake of the tragic Orlando shootings on the 12th of June. Given the RVT’s status as one of the most important LGBTQ+ venues in London, it is incredibly moving that it is finally getting the recognition it deserves especially at a time when unity and acceptance is so vitally important. In the wake of the Brexit vote, an alarming rise in racially-motivated hate speech has been reported, so solidarity and connection amongst diverse communities is a top priority for us as Londoners. This is a time for us all to come together and share in what connects us rather than foster division. We would like to think that Passing Clouds’ status as a truly multicultural venue is also particularly important at this time. We are deeply proud of the capacity for people from all different backgrounds to unite and meet as friends in our family home. In the spirit of the unity and human connection that Passing Clouds has always championed, we would like to ask all our supporters on Twitter to tweet Sadiq Khan (@MayorOfLondon) thanking him for stepping in to help The Royal Vauxhall Tavern and asking him to do the same for Passing Clouds as a venue of cultural significance, using the hashtag #PassingCloudsForever.
