Parkview Vision Statement
You are at the center of everything we do, as an individual, as an employer and as our community.
Today has been a long day of reflection for so many who have made Dekalb Labor and Delivery their home away from home. Twenty-two employees from Dekalb are making their way into new positions. Some remain with Parkview, and some not.
Yesterday Parkview Dekalb was told in the afternoon not to admit any more laboring patients. Signage had started to come down in the halls and outside the hospital last week. Badges were turned in, and doors were locked.
Earlier this month on September 11, 2023, Parkview celebrated its 15th year of naming rights for Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne MLB team, The Tincaps.
News Channel 15 reported that the naming rights cost Parkview $350,000 per year for the rights.
Originally the rights were purchased at 3 million over 10 years.
Clearly, Parkview is making expecting families the center of everything they do, by closing 3 hospital birth centers down in 13 months. If a non-profit has that much extra money to toss at the community, how about throwing hospital birth centers a bone and keeping your commitment to improving our health and inspiring our well-being?
There has been zero communication from Parkview to any of the community questions. There have only been blanket statements made on a few occasions that are far from the truth.
Why would a huge hospital system committed to the communities it serves blatantly ignore our requests?
Why is Parkview silencing the employees that work for them?
Why are millions being spent on corporate heads when they can’t even keep a simple hospital birth center open?
Why are all patient complaints heard by an affiliated advocate who really will get you any true answers other than arguing with you?
Why close down Dekalb’s family birth center, which was run mainly by the Auburn OBGYN midwives? Why not partner instead of forcing them to move out? Parkview partners with other OBGYN practices.
These are our questions Parkview! Are you listening?
