Update #1

After two weeks of relentless advocacy by parents and dedicated community members, some progress has been made to save our team. On December 5th, the administration at Paetow High School reinstated Dance Company as a performance ensemble through the end of the year. However, the initial hope this decision sparked was quickly extinguished by false promises and actions that undermined the team’s purpose. Instead of restoring Dance Company as a true performance team, the school rebranded it into a regular dance class, stripping it of its original purpose and value.

Officers were removed from their roles, written workbooks were introduced, and families were asked to cover additional costs for required shoes—despite being owed refunds. These actions have left students and parents feeling disrespected and frustrated, with the school seemingly “keeping” the team to mask its mistakes rather than genuinely supporting it.

On December 9th, parents raised their concerns to the Katy ISD school board, highlighting issues of liability, negligence, improper conduct, and financial mismanagement. While the board meeting offered a glimpse of hope, we now eagerly await meaningful action to address these concerns.
