We heard back from OSHA regarding our petition on sonographer safety—and while they acknowledged the very real ergonomic risks in our field, they made it clear this issue is not currently a priority for them.
OSHA stated that due to limited resources and their existing regulatory agenda, they do not plan to take action or create enforceable standards for sonography at this time. Instead, they pointed to general guidance tools and the broad “General Duty Clause,” which places responsibility on employersbut does not establish specific protections like scan time limits or workload standards.

In short: they recognize the problem, but they are not stepping in to fix it.

This is exactly why our work matters. If meaningful change is going to happen, it will have to come from us—through documentation, advocacy, and collective action.

We keep going. We keep fighting. We keep speaking up.
