We ask that Bayside City Council gives the wishes of our SDHS earnest consideration for all the reasons outlined in this petition, recognizing the critical importance of both location and volunteers, thereby promoting the ongoing growth of this thriving, centrally located Bayside resource with the continuing support of current Councilors and Administration for Bayside Activity Centres.

The following circa 1986 note is included for historical background, courtesy of a SDHS Past President and Past Bayside Mayor, Graeme Disney -
"In November 1985 the Mayor of Sandringham, Cr Carmen Watson, called a meeting where it was decided to form a Historical Society for Sandringham and District...  to acquire, store, preserve, record and make available to the public information, documents and memorabilia related to the history of Sandringham and District... The centre has many visitors, and volunteers answer questions and supply information covering a wide range of topics from aborigines to horse trams, and from hotels to hospitals. Some of these enquiries come from students at all levels from Primary to University, while many are from people engaged in family history research. Frequently newly arrived residents seek information about the history of their house..."
