Plastic French Fries

As I posted an update on Uniting Beauty this morning, I was being handed a plate of faux foods; a plastic hot dog encased in a plastic bun, plastic french fries, and a little plastic tomato. I thanked my "server";  my fierce (almost) three year old daughter, she with the no-nonsense attitude toward my inquiry for ketchup.

"Mama, it on there ALREADY," she sighs, annoyed eye-roll fit for a teenager. 

It's a cuter replication of what is happening with our industry's need for support from our elected leaders. We ask politely for relief funding and we're met with "Please wait patiently to be seated" signs. We wait, stare at a menu of applications, and once seated, we place our order. After 20 minutes, our server arrives with news that due high demand, our selection isn't available.

"So sorry about that! Money is on the way!" We wait, growing more impatient, but do we have a choice?

Finally our funding arrives. It's meager, especially compared to what we're used to having, and it feels cold and seems like an after thought. What do we do now? We've waited, and don't want to seem ungracious but this isn't right! It isn't enough! It definitely isn't what we asked for. 

I'm hear to tell you, if this was a meal you waited for in a restaurant and the situation above actually happened, I know EXACTLY what you would do- you would ask to speak with restaurant manager, the person in charge, and demand better treatment.
