So...it was a rough weekend. A supporter reached out to me on FB Messenger, and asked some really great questions, as she was suspicious that this whole movement was a scam. After I spoke with her, she obviously realized that I am indeed a real human, a (now non) working woman who is just trying to make the world a financially safer place for people like, well, all of us really. She indicated that there were many on the Discussion boards who thought I am trying to scam them.
To be honest, I didn't even know these Discussion areas existed until my 15 year old son stumbled upon them, from my laptop. I'm not exactly tech savvy, at least not in comparison with people his age :) Apparently, this area (at least for me as the admin of the petition) is only accessible by laptop, and of course I misplaced my charging cord for it. *Insert facepalm emoji here*
So a few things happened, simultaneously:
- My charger cord for my laptop went missing. M-I-S-S-I-N-G.
- My son left for a week.
- The Professional Beauty Association reached out to me to help spread the word about their Relief Fund
- The Discussion areas went WILD on my last update
Folks, I am legitimately just one person managing this petition's page, running after a toddler, worrying and struggling alongside all of you. I want you all to know that I am trying diligently to connect with every single one of you, but the Discussion area of these updates is very limited, as I do not receive ANY notification at all of your posts there, either in email or as a push notification.
If I did not answer you, it isn't because I'm ignoring you- I have to manually scroll through HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of comments, and I can only do that from my (now powered up) laptop. In addition to this post, PBA added language to their COVID-19 Relief Fund page authenticating my involvement and Change.org will be reaching out to some of you directly via email within the next day or two.
I hope that this update helped those of you who are feeling neglected, or worried that all your efforts have been for naught. We really are making a HUGE difference for our industry right now, and with the now-added relief fund created by the PBA, all we need to do is try to help them raise the money that will go DIRECTLY back into our professionals pockets.
