Following the presentation of the petition to the council on 14th April we are pleased to report that concerted pressure on the owners Star Pubs ( Heineken ) has resulted in agreed remediation work starting on the 18th May .
Whilst so far the work undertaken is cosmetic and preparatory the council believes that the required major structural work that is required to save this heritage building is programmed to start next week
With your support the Council recognised the depth of public feeling and the Leader of the Council Cclr Stuart Bray has confirmed that
“Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council conservation and planning officers are keeping the pressure on the owners Star Bars and will continue do so throughout the refurbishment.
Local people have waited long enough for this to be brought back into use and I won't hesitate to ask officers to begin enforcement proceedings should progress stall again.”
