Novelist Veronica Henry lives on the North Devon coast and has this to say about the planned closure of our mobile libraries:

'Cutting this service would affect some of our most isolated and vulnerable people; people who find refuge and comfort and joy in books and who wouldn't be able to access the library service otherwise.  Any civilised society understands and appreciates the power of reading. It is life-changing, sometimes even life-saving. Depriving rural communities of this simple pleasure is shortsighted and cruel, if not downright savage.'
