Local authors Claire Barker and Liz Shakespeare join the campaign

Authors Claire Barker and Liz Shakespeare are both backing the campaign to save Devon’s mobile libraries.

Claire said “These aren’t simply vans full of books; they are lifelines for many isolated people. With the numbers of children who attend school falling, with the numbers of aging people rising, how can this service not be essential? Especially in Devon. Are free books only for those with cars and reliable public transport now? Mobile libraries bring people out of their houses and into their communities in a way that screens don’t. If anything there should be more of them.”

Liz commented “Reading can help to reduce isolation, develop empathy and increase knowledge and awareness. The mobile library service reaches out to some of the most vulnerable in Devon's population - it must be retained!”

Thank you both! Please everyone keep sharing and spreading the word #supportlibraries #saveourmobilelibrary
