The photo on our petition was of our 60th Anniversary Celebration taken in 2017. Sadly, since then our community has been under threat.
The Queensland Government owned this park and in 2014 they sold it to a not for profit company who then sold it to a land lease developer over two years ago. We have been suffering housing stress since 2011. The stress has taken its toll on the health and well being of our residents and we have endured the passing of dozens. I hope they found their way to a better place.
This photo is of an empty block where someone once lived, loved and enjoyed life. The home was smashed and taken away in a skip - no recycling, all trees and shrubs removed and its been empty ever since. We once had 143 home sites. Now we have 100. This could have been a home for someone, even if it was temporary.
We have so many homeless people in our area living in the bush, cars, tents, etc. Our residents may well soon be joining them.
With out the support of many all our lives will end up in a skip, the trees and shrubs that make our park beautiful will be torn down, and the diverse wildlife will have nowhere to go. Neither will we. The world will have lost yet another precious community.
Please pass this petition on to all your family, friends and contacts. Your support will be much appreciated and is urgently needed.
