I want to share an update on the progress of our campaign to stop our neighbours from being made homeless.
Our petition has been:
· Signed by 10,000+ supporters
· Viewed by more than 60,000 people
· Shared ~1,200 times
· Promoted by ~200 of you
· Funded by more than $3,000
On behalf of our neighbours, a huge thank you to you all.
We have been working hard:
· Sunday August 4 – our community came together to build ~20 banners that will be used to further highlight the risk that our neighbours face. These banners are being hung in prominent places around the area.
· Monday August 5 – Radio 2GB – Sydney’s top rating breakfast radio programme hosted by Ben Fordham and produced by Will Jeffries did a great piece on the story on air, and then published the story online.

· Wednesday August 7 – Holly Tregenza (ABC TV and online) covered the story that went live on the main evening TV news bulletin in Sydney.
· Thursday August 8 – Holly Tregenza (ABC TV and online) published an excellent piece online as a companion piece to the TV news.
· Thursday August 8 – 4 members of our community (including Steve, a resident of the Boarding Houses) met with the Mayor, the Council CEO, the Head of Planning, the Mayor’s Chief of Staff as well as representatives from the Planning and Policy Departments. We put our calls directly to The Mayor and her team. The Mayor has asked us for a follow-up meeting this week.
· Friday August 9 – Steve and I were interviewed by Sarah MacDonald on ABC Mornings Sydney.

· Friday August 9 – we have written to the 3 NSW State Government Ministers responsible for housing policy seeking an urgent meeting
· Friday August 9 – we have been in touch with other media outlets to further cover the story.
