Dear Friends of Dowses Beach:
Thank you, thank you! Your support of the petition to save Dowses from the massive construction project proposed by Avangrid Renewables is essential to the cause. Many of us attended a meeting with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act this week, and MEPA heard the dismay and anger loud and clear. Our group, an ad hoc community activist association, will file a public comment response to Avangrid’s proposal by the deadline of November 29. Anyone else wishing to comment (all comments will be a matter of public record) may do so by email to:
alexander.strysky@state.ma.us
As our fight moves into the permitting process following MEPA review, we will need to hire our own environmental and wildlife habitat consultant. Our fundraising to pay for this work as well as for expenses related to the campaign to save Dowses has begun. If you are able, please consider a contribution — great or small — at our crowdfunding page on GoFundMe:
We are fully committed to an honest and transparent management of any funds we collect.
The beautiful painting shown in this post is the work of our fellow activist and nationally recognized artist extraordinaire Susie McLean. She has painted Dowses in every season and in every light. Her talent captures the grace and beauty of this public treasure like no other. Thank you for letting us share your art, Susie!
