Urgent Update - Timothy Signed AIC Sale, Impacting Our Legacy

Dear Concerned Supporters,

Salam, I hope this message finds you well. We want to provide you with a critical update regarding the American Islamic College (AIC) situation. Unfortunately, Timothy J. Gianotti, AIC's President, has signed the first phase of the sale, handing over a portion of AIC's property to developers. This decision impacts the cherished AIC masjid and dormitory residents, rendering them homeless.

Throughout this process, we have raised concerns about transparency, especially considering AIC's history marred by mismanagement, fraud, and corruption, leading to court proceedings against some past members. Our request for the sales documents to be disclosed and made public was met with resistance, citing legal violations and defaults under the existing agreement.

Additionally, when we sought an in-person meeting with representatives of the Board of Trustees to address our concerns, we faced evasive responses and uncertainty. Timothy's lack of outreach to the community for help, ignoring emails from those offering assistance, and not considering Muslim organizations as potential buyers has left us questioning the intentions behind the sale.

Our efforts to preserve AIC's legacy and Islamic values have faced obstacles, with the sale rushed through despite opposition. We question the morality and ethics of proceeding without adequate community consultation.

We are heartened by the overwhelming support we have received from all of you. The petition now has 852 signatures, demonstrating the strength of our united voice.

The AIC sale officially closed on July 21, resulting in significant consequences for the future of our institution and community. We are deeply concerned about the potential loss of AIC's buildings, including the masjid, and the impact on our educational pursuits and Islamic heritage.

Despite these challenges, we are determined to persevere and seek solutions that protect our legacy at Lakeshore. Your support and continued commitment are crucial in this endeavor.
