The 18 acres of woods along Sinking Creek, combined with Oaklands Park is the largest green space in the heart of our city. There are many people who care about it and can volunteer time to make it into a nature preserve with bird watching boardwalks, 200 yr old trees and 131 documented bird species that rely on it. Native American and civil war artifacts have been found on the adjoining property across The Sinking Creek. They are likely here as well. Please take into account the flood risk that paving over of 11 acres of that area with 91 condos will create. The condos can be put in so many other places.
