Rumour says Nutkin bites again, in July 2026
Hi. These articles are inaccurate. There have been no more squirrel attacks since September 2025, and the articles link to a 2025 article.
Here is what the Marin Humane Society said. Hi its Marin Humane. This squirrel story seems to keep circulating. We never located any of the attacking squirrels in 2020. They had obviously been habituated by someone in the area, and therefore associated people with food. No squirrels were ever found or euthanized. And there hasn't been any further issues.

As we discussed earlier, we have not heard anything about this squirrel since there was the media coverage last year. This was the information I was able to find when I searched on Google, " Nutkin the squirrel that bit people in San Rafael, CA. Was it captured?":
"Officials from Marin Humane were prepared to intervene and set traps if the situation worsened, but the attacks abruptly stopped and the rodent disappeared from the Lucas Valley-Marinwood area. Because it is nearly impossible to distinguish one specific urban squirrel from another once it stops actively approaching humans, tracking it down became unfeasible after it vanished. Wildlife specialists at WildCare believe that once neighbors heeded warnings to stop feeding local wildlife, the squirrel either moved to a different territory or successfully reverted to natural foraging."
I hope that might set your mind at ease. As far as we know, no one captured or euthanized it.
