The Norwich Mind Mental Health Helpline was saved and incorporated with the Wellbeing line run by Mind. The hours have significantly reduced and the seriously ill mental health service users shortchanged. There is no 24/7 helpline at weekends. The Crisis teams are not picking up when the line isn't open, they either don't answer their phones or you are told you are not open to them as happened to me again last Wednesday evening when I was really struggling and having been alerted to them by an operator at Mind at 11.40 in the evening. I had forgotten to pick my medication up from my GP surgery, I had had a really bad day and felt like giving up altogether, 10.00 pm I rang the 111 service and eventually a DUTY GP sorted my medication out but I had to drive 24 miles to fetch it at 11.45pm. When I got there the helpline staff had flagged me up and the GP was hesitant about letting me have my medication he wanted me accessed by Crisis all that happened he was given a phone number for me to ring when I got home. I did this to be told I wasn't open to them and call Samaritans, I explained that Samaritans weren't helpful as they don't take notes or know you. Eventually the Crisis team member realised she knew me from when I had been under crisis and talked me through my problem and actually alerted my care co. I was told that they are not going to take over from the helpline when they are not open, this beggars belief once again we are left in the lurch. I have reported the matter to Debbie White from the NSFT and once again she is looking into the matter. When will the NSFT & CCGs plus the government realise we need a 24/7 line as we had in THE BEGINNING IT SAVED LIVES. The Samaritans are of no use compared to the helpline, who keep notes and are trained in mental health issues I mislead everyone about Michael Scott and his cut in salary there wasn't one it was someone's sick idea of an April fools joke. Perhaps he will be embarrassed into taking one and the CCGs follow suit. IF WE GOT RID OF 4 CCGs AND ONLY HAD 1 WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST & CENTRAL IN THE NSFT AREA THOUSANDS OF £s WOULD BE SAVED IN DUPLICATED SALARIES. THE FINANCES COULD THEN BE PUT INTO THE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND NHS. It would also stop them arguing amongst themselves and having meeting about meetings. TRY LISTENING TO SERIOUSLY ILL MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE USERS There have been many sad stories from people who can't cope with the lines reduced hours, we need the 24/7 service back again, the funding must be found for mind. PLEASE DON'T LET THERE BE ANYMORE SUICIDES, SELF HARM ETC STILL SIGN AND SHARE THIS PETITION MAKE THE POWERS THAT BE LISTEN. Thank You Heather
