What can you do to help us?
We are kindly to ask you if you could continue to raise the below messages to your local TD and politicians so we can move this forward!!
As you are aware, the boards of the Academy and Newpark Comprehensive School have been working constructively with us towards implementing our proposal for the re-opening of the Academy. At a high level, our proposal involves the continued use of Melfield House for the coming teaching year (followed by a relocation to an identified premises in Booterstown), updating the governance structure of the Academy and appointing a new board.
Significant progress has been made. Our advisors and those advising the boards have between them prepared the documents required to implement the proposal. As of Tuesday 16 July, a draft of the proposed licence for the continued use of Melfield House sits with the Department of Education for review and sign-off.
We are very grateful for the support from all sides to get us to the point where reopening is a possibility. Unfortunately, as of today we are still waiting for this sign off and the board of Newpark Academy of Music are unwilling to step back until the Department of Education has reverted.
The working group Save Newpark Music remains very active and is working hard in the background to draw attention to this issue and to keep moving things forward. Once this licence has been agreed, we believe we can move quickly to implement the proposal and be in a position to commence the re-hiring of teachers and re-enrolment of students. It is vital that this process has started as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Save Newpark Music Working Group and Hilda
