A new global scientific review has revealed an alarming decline in more than 50% of global migratory bird species.
Migratory birds are a very visible indicator of the state of global biodiversity. The fact that such a high percentage of migratory bird species are declining across every major flyway on Earth is gravely concerning.

Newcastle City Council, along with all planning authorities, should therefore be ensuring existing nesting sites are protected and new nesting opportunities are created.
