North East Mayor

Last year we wrote to the North East Mayor asking for her support to protect nesting swifts, in response to an incident in Consett, where a housing provider was boarding up swift nests.

We were assured that the Mayor would be reinforcing messages around the need to protect nesting swifts with North East housing providers.

We have again written to the Mayor to understand which housing providers she has engaged with and what form of engagement has taken place.

Swift Awareness Week runs from 27th June to 5th July and there will be a number of swift walks taking place across Newcastle.
