Silent Skies

Screaming swifts are the sound of Summer, but Newcastle's skies, like the skies across many UK towns and cities this Summer, are almost silent of swifts.

Poor weather and low insect numbers impact breeding swifts, as well as lack of nesting sites.

We have written to the new leader of Newcastle City Council and all the new councillors asking how the new administration will factor in biodiversity - including protecting and creating nesting habitat for swifts - into decision making.

Please share this petition widely so we can get enough signatures to trigger a Council debate.
