We had a very special visitor start coming to the garden over the weekend! This is now our 4th butterfly species, and very crucial butterflies, the lovely Monarch. We are so overjoyed to have and continue this honor.
This is a sign of how important keeping gardens with native food sources are. Gardeners are crucial to fill the void of nutrition for these animals. They need nutrient dense nectars to maintain health lives, just the same as you or I. Native species in gardens provide vital nutrients dense meals for the entire food web. Even a small planter can make a difference for you as well as these animals.
It's Watertown City Council Meeting at 7PM tonight at City Hall. We ask if you can, support this cause, and are able to, PLEASE come. If you choose to speak, we thank you. You can also provide emails to asaunders@watertown-ny.gov which are read aloud at council meetings if you cannot be in person. The city needs more voices wanting to protect gardeners and these habitats to make change happen.
We are fighting to protect an education asset for the community. We are fighting to protect the Lives of over 60 known species of pollinators, which also brings the song birds back.
Thank you all. Please like, share, cross post. Your voices will be heard and your ongoing support is so very appreciated.
