Thanks to all of you, we have have exceeded 200,000 signatures online, and thousands more on paper forms collected by volunteers around the world. But our work isn't over. Vaquita continue to decline in Mexico's Sea of Cortez, and Mexico isn't doing enough to prevent it ─ even though laws exist that would empower the Mexican government to end the gillnet threat once and for all. 

The Not a Dolphin podcast interviewed VIVA Vaquita founder and conservationist Dr. Tom Jefferson: "The best hope that we have is really to try to convince the Mexican government to enforce the laws that are already in place. I mean, it doesn’t require any new laws or regulations, you know. They’re already there on the books, basically."
