So, six days later, Rosie and Sam’s reward for their dedication to the bookshop was to receive redundancy notices. Everybody at MTS did. Staff have invited to apply for “admin assistant” roles in the merged “library and gift shop” – a total 44 hours per against the current 85. It’ll still sell books and will apparently even order in, with the permission of the board (doesn't sound very theosophical that). They still deny the bookshop is closing, and they still say it’s to save money while spending like drunken sailors on consultants, HR, accountants, lawyers plus the refit of our brand new purpose-built space they’ll have to carry out. The “gifts” they talk about are actually the incense, crystals, statues of Buddhist gods and other items people use in their spiritual practice. Its vandalism of the highest order and they still haven’t put it to their own members (this is not in accordance with the governance standards that apply to charities).

Members who disagree with this can still take action by convening a meeting and voting the current board out.

The last day of operation of the current bookshop will be Friday 12 August, normal opening hours until then (unless of course the Board decides otherwise).
