In October 2024, the Canton Public School district "was recognized by the Connecticut Department of Transportation as a Vision Zero Program of Distinction which aims to recognize schools and districts who are committed to safe routes to school and promoting safe transportation practices."

As of March 2025, there are still reckless drivers speeding and running lights in Canton, Connecticut, putting our community and other lives at risk: I-TEAM: Neighbors band together in Canton to slow down reckless drivers

At the next Board of Selectmen meeting (3/12/25) there is an agenda item for "Discussion and possible action to send traffic control device ordinance to a public hearing."
