Aggiornamento sulla petizioneCannabis Research, Education and Medication in MalaysiaSelamat Hari Raya!!

Malaysia Awareness Society (MASA)
17 lug 2015
It's the festive season here in Malaysia with joy and happiness all around. We would like to take this opportunity to wish those celebrating "Hari Raya" a great and prosperous year ahead; and to thank you in person for the 500 plus signatures we have gathered.
On the 20th of June this year, we attended a society gathering hosted by the NGO, "Epilepsy Association Malaysia", in the University of Malaya. Epilepsy patients and related people gathered together to discuss about future activities they can do as a group. Among the patients, an individual who has suffered from epilepsy for many years voiced out that more research studies should be done to find a prevention or treatment. We could only imagine how much pain he, his family and the other patients were going through.
There is a possibility that local scientists and doctors are aware of from analyzing research studies done using Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on rats. Diseases such as epilepsy and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which are related to the nervous system in the body can be treated by the chemicals found in cannabis that activates the neurons and the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Unfortunately, because of the current laws and restrictions in Malaysia; studies using cannabis buds on human patients are prohibited.
This petition was created and launched after "Support Don't Punish" day so that honest and thorough research studies can be done in Malaysia to understand in detail what the plant and its various strains does to the human mind and body. The results may be able to help those who are in need of such medical treatment and open up a window of discovery for yet unexplored knowledge.
The amount of supporters for this cause can make a big change. Please share this petition to your friends and social sites so that we can gather more signatures to proceed further.
Thank you very much for your support and Selamat Hari Raya!!
