WE WON! Lewisham Shopping Centre Has BEEN SAVED

🥳Some important news, the redevelopment of Lewisham Shopping has been halted!!!

🗣️Landsec claims that it was solely due to economic conditions, but do not be mistaken. Community campaigning was equally as important. The strength of our campaign in removing their labour lackeys, the huge turnout we had at our rallies showing community discontent and pushing our mayor Liam Shirivastava to commendably block the CPO of Lewisham House were nails in the coffin for this £500 million gamble.

🙏🏾With the Landsec redevelopment plans halted this now gives room for alternative proposals that actually focus on upgrading our town centre without causing mass displacement. Focusing on refurbishment and working with the existing architecture. The existing Shopping Centre can receive direct investment rather than having our town centre turned into a construction site.

❗This is the strength of Community Organising! Don't get it twisted without people joining the Save Lewisham Shopping Centre campaign this wouldn't of happened.

✊🏾We are Lewisham, South Londoners when there is a threat to us we unite together and we ALWAYS fight back!

We have won this battle but the fight continues for development that puts people over profit! Let’s continue to show up and let developers know - Lewisham belongs to the people! We will not be squeezed out and any development in Lewisham must address the needs of locals first!

United we will never be defeated 🗣️
