STOP THE COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER
👋🏾Hello everyone.
🥳 Last week had a great start to the week. Our Saturday and Wednesday leafletting sessions had over 15 people volunteering, and we managed to give away 700 leaflets over the course of one week! If we keep working at this pace, we are bound to reach 4000 signatures real soon!
😡This coming *Wednesday*, the Mayor and her cabinet, including a councillor for Lewisham Central, Edison Huynh and *Labour mayoral candidate* Amanda De Ryk, will be looking to decide and draft up a compulsory purchase order (CPO). This is intended to speed up the shopping centre development in the name of "public interest" even though the redevelopment provides only 98 social homes and its success is dependent on yearly rent increases of £150. Join us on Wednesday, the 21st of Jan from 6pm to join our soft picket line to oppose this.
🗣️ Finally, we will have more leafletting sessions again this week, on Wednesday the 21st and Saturday and 24th of Jan from 12-3pm by the clocktower, so please come and join us to help give out even more leaflets and boost our petition/public awareness.
Thank you
