Local residents do have until Friday 22/7/22 to object on the application of land off Hermitage Park, Lepton. However I have been told that the deadline will be extended for comments because the applicants are missing a plan on traffic and sewage/drainage. Cllr Bernard McGuin said the area is recognized as earmarked for housing development in the Local Plan. The overall plan is for 600 houses and the onus will be on objectors to prove a case for non-development on the site. Examples of planning reasons for objections are: highways; drainage; flood; ecology; geology; public rights of way issues and effects on listed buildings.

Developers are attempting to "test the water" by building a limited number of houses initially but that the combination of around 80 homes on HS3 and a further 75 as phase one of HS2 meant the potential for traffic from 150 houses "with no reciprocal infrastructure improvement".

I am against a suggestion by highways officers and the plan inspector that a new roundabout need not be created until 200 homes had been built.

With what they are doing now there would be 70 houses at the bottom [of the joint plan and 80 at the top but no infrastructure. They should at least put in traffic lights at the bottom of Rowley Lane where there is going to be a lot of pressure.

There will also be an impact on schools. There's no way King James's School can expand any more. It has reached its maximum. Yet there will be more kids. Where will they go? So there will be extra pressures on schools as well.
