We are writing to you because you signed the petition to keep Lenzie Public Hall on East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC)'s 10 year Capital Development Plan.
Thank you for your support. This petition has been critical in demonstrating public interest and strength of feeling to EDC.
Above is a photo of the Hall as it was in 2019.
This is OUR space.
OUR potential.
OUR community.
Despite our petition, letters and emails, EDC have taken the Hall off the 10 year Capital Development Plan and are no longer to refurbish it. We're sad but not put off.
EDC have carried out some repairs and have now put the Hall up for sale or let with offers to allow for continued community use. This is despite us repeatedly requesting more time for the community itself to come up with a plan (our joint complaint / joint reply)
"Every crisis is an opportunity"
Some form of community ownership looks like the best way to keep this fantastic building working for our community.
Members of the community are coming together to discuss the future of the Hall this week.
This is an open meeting in the Lenzie Union New Hall (entrance on Moncrieff Avenue) at 7pm Tuesday 17 June 2025.
Please consider coming along to talk about what you want for the Hall and to share your ideas with others.
Your voice matters. We need you.
Thank you.
