Alton Town Council will be holding another public meeting regarding Kings Pond at 7pm on Wednesday 12th July 2023 at the Alton Maltings (Maltings Close, Alton, GU34 1DT - behind Sainsburys). We urge you to attend so as we can send a clear message to the council that we want Kings Pond and it’s wildlife saved.

Last time we had this opportunity the Maltings was flooded by residents generally speaking out in opposition to the plans in what is believed to be the highest attendance for a council meeting in Alton’s history! Despite this, the last council made some undemocratic decisions regarding next steps for the pond and it’s future is far from safe.

We however have a new council with just two returning members and as such it is vital that we again show unwavering opposition to the proposals through a sizeable turnout. The new councillors need to understand the strength of feeling towards saving Kings Pond and  to see that we as residents are holding them to account on their democratic duty to represent our views in their decision making.

Like last time there will be an opportunity to speak (you’ll need to add your name to the list on arrival). I appreciate some (myself included) may be uncomfortable with public speaking but if you can muster the courage to do so, it’ll make a huge difference. Every voice, every representation makes a difference - don’t leave it to someone else, be part of the collective voice striving to save Kings Pond.

We hope you’ll join us at the Maltings on Wednesday 12th July at 7pm.
