Hello Everyone
Karen has now been in Conquest hospital in East Sussex for 2 years and 1 month.
Karen has been very unwell with a severe infection/s for almost a month. Today she has deteriorated further with a much higher temperature and pulse. The temperature spiked to 39.9 and her pulse went up to 130 earlier today. The ward consultant has seen Karen and told her he is going to speak to an anaesthetist in ITU about finding a slot for them to put in a central line under GA. They plan to stop the TPN for 5 days and will remove the PICC line in case it is a source of infection.
Karen has had a urinary infection and had an emergency CT scan last week which showed a possible chest infection.
Karen had another femoral stab - in the groin - today to get blood for tests. They may change one of the two IV antibiotics that she is on. They are checking again for the source/s of infection.
