Hello Everyone

Karen has now been in Conquest hospital for 1 year and 8 months. Karen is continuing to have TPN (IV feeding) and IV fluid in hospital.

Following having a heart attack on the 7th of May, Heather, Karen’s mum, spent 12 days in Eastbourne hospital. Then she spent 6 weeks at home recovering. During this time Michael stayed with Karen 24/7 at Conquest hospital. On Wednesday the 2nd of July Heather came back to Conquest hospital to stay with Karen full time again. At the time Karen was very poorly with a urinary infection. It was good for Karen and Heather to be back together again.

Karen has been and is continuing to have a very difficult time including because of tube changes and a virus and because of stress and overexertion due to East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) considering taking Karen to Court and evicting her from hospital without the TPN she needs to survive. We hope to update you more about the last month or so soon. Karen is still trying to recover from the virus and is still more unwell.

On Sunday the 17th of August it was Karen’s 39th birthday. It was her 5th birthday that she has spent in hospital and her 4th birthday that she has spent in hospital in the last 5 years. For her birthday Heather and Michael gave Karen a 3D elephant helium balloon. Some friends also sent Karen a 3D capybara helium balloon. Karen really likes the balloons.
