Come celebrate the founding of the State Historical Society of Iowa in Iowa City on January 29, 1857, even if the doors of the Centennial Building at 402 Iowa Avenue are now locked.

The public is invited to a free program on Thursday evening, January 29, 2026, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn Street.

The event will feature entertainment from musician Dave Moore, the Swampland Jewels, and among others, the Labor Notes - a band formed by members of COGS (UI Graduate Student union). Help us increase awareness about the value of keeping the State Historical Society of Iowa's collections in Iowa City.  

Join the Save Iowa History coalition and our co-host, the Iowa Labor History Society, as we generate some positive energy behind our cause by sharing a fun, family-friendly evening with a few door prizes thrown in.
