Dear neighbors:
Yesterday we participated in a meeting with Huntington Bank people, and they announced the following plan to representatives of some local community organizations:
Huntington Buckeye is not closing permanently, but is being closed temporarily for 6 months. A spokesperson said that the ultimate decision will be based on safety in our neighborhood.
So…that is a victory for each and every one of us who signed letters and petitions to Huntington to not close our branch. But it also is a terrible inconvenience to you the customers, depositors, local residents, and caring good neighbors.
And it leaves us facing another battle in the coming months, so that instead of a boarded-up bank in August, we are all part of a grand reopening celebration. For that to happen, we will have to keep fighting.
Fortunately the next step is already underway. Please come and join together at a community meeting on safety in our neighborhoods. And tell all your friends. Below are the details:
