Just to keep everyone informed, the woodland at the top of Grays Lane and West Hill in Hitchin has been saved from being destroyed by the landowner / developer. At a recent Council Planning Meeting to review the temporary Tree Protected Order (TOP) on the woodland, the planning committee unanimously agreed to place a permanent TPO on the whole wood. There had been a planning recommendation to reduce the TPO to cover just three trees so this was a significant vote for conservation by the committee.
We thank all the people who emailed the committee and Councillors, which no doubt had a bearing on the outcome. We should also like to thank the committee for making this decision and recognizing the environmental and ecological importance of keeping the whole woodland.
Thank you.
