On Tuesday, March 19th, Friends of Cudell Commons Park and members of the local community will march to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District School Board Business meeting at Waverly Elementary School on W. 57th Street. The march begins at 5pm next to the Bald Cypress Tree at Cudell Commons Park and the route will go east on Detroit Avenue, through Gordon Square, and south onto W. 57th Street. The School Board meeting starts at 6:30pm.

Samaria Rice, founder of the Tamir Rice Foundation, will be joining the Friends of Cudell Commons at Waverly Elementary School to speak during public comment asking CMSD to go back to the drawing board and meaningfully engage with her and the community regarding their plans for a new Marion C. Seltzer Elementary School. Ms. Rice has an easement to the City-owned land at Cudell Park where the Rice Butterfly Garden Memorial is located, immediately adjacent to the proposed school site. Despite this, she has not been in contact with anyone from CMSD for nearly two years and was never presented with their final plan, nor consulted on the effect the new building would have on her son’s Memorial. The Friends and Ms. Rice are grateful for the opportunity to address the School Board.

--------

Please join us for the approximate 2-mile march, walk along, bike along, drive alongside, or meet us in Gordon Square or at Waverly Elementary School located at 1805 W 57th St. All Community welcome!
