Hello friends - we've reached over 4,600 signatures, and ask that you please keep sharing the word - can you send the petition to 10 people?
Today we wondered if the university had even been heating the house over the winter. As neighbours, we don't remember seeing anyone coming regularly to check on the house. The driveway was not plowed. And is it possible that the damage Dal is talking about is through their neglect of the house during the nine months they have owned it? The damage in the ceiling of two bedrooms was not there on July 29, 2021, when the interior photos were taken, the day before the university took possession, nine months ago.
Our MP, Andy Fillmore, has reached out to former Liberal MP Scott Brison, who is the Chancellor of Dal. We hope that he'll approach the Board of Governors of Dalhousie and ask them to press pause.
Dal announced its honorary degree recipients yesterday, and we hope that these fine folks won't be ok with the university tearing down a useable, beautiful, well loved family home at a time when so many people are struggling to find a place to live. Let's keep the pressure up and save 1245 Edward Street!
PS here's a video from The Chronicle Herald - our story is around 3:17.
