NEWS - Late Neolithic to Late Bronze Age Archaeology found on Highmoor Farm

PTHFB Members will be aware that 33 archaeological trenches were recently dug on Highmoor Farm. The Archaeological Evaluation Interim Report has just been published (10th May) by Wessex Archaeology and is available on the planning portal:

3,175 grams of worked flint (241 objects) dating from the late Neolithic to the late Bronze Age were recovered from 25 trenches, recorded, and returned to the soil. Some of the flint finds included knives, hammerstones, scrapers and arrow heads.

Talbot Village Trust & Nuffield Health were obliged by Dorset Council's Senior Archaeologist - Steve Wallis to undertake these digs and we presume he is in the process of assessing the findings.

What an amazing rich history Highmoor Farm has and I am sure PTHFB Member Historian John R Dymott will be pouring over this report's findings in great detail.
