Elmbridge Borough Council is currently reviewing this proposal, and your opinion can influence their decision. If you believe this development would negatively affect our village, we urge you to OBJECT to the planning application by April 26, 2024.

Objecting is Simple
- Online: Visit the Elmbridge Borough Council website (https://www.elmbridge.gov.uk/planning/find-or-comment-planning-application) and follow the instructions under "Planning," referencing application number 2024/0498.

Don’t give up if the website crashes, which it frequently does. Try again, maybe at a quieter time or send an email.
There are a number of grounds for objection:
- Excessive Height and Scale: The residential blocks, reaching up to six stories, would tower over the surrounding area.
- Overbearing Design: The development's design is out of place and doesn't fit the character of the village.
- Loss of Local Businesses: Half of the existing floor space for small retail units in the shopping centre will be permanently lost, and all the local businesses will be threatened due to the loss of parking space.
- Parking Shortage: The proposed parking reduction from 270 to 127 spaces would be inadequate for all current users, including Doctors Surgery patients, customers of businesses in the village, Burhill Primary School parents and children and people enjoying social events in the village such as fairs and firework night.
